EPA National Forum on Vapor Intrusion: Science, Technology and Policy
|
|
EPA will hold a National Forum on Vapor Intrusion in
Philadelphia, PA January 12-13, 2009. This forum will
be structured on dual tracks with common sessions.
Technical presentations on sampling, assessment,
risk, and engineering are planned, and case studies
illustrating a cross section of vapor intrusion issues
from the perspective of community stakeholders,
Brownfields, EPA, and states will be presented. Dave
Folkes of EnviroGroup will be speaking on new
developments in vapor intrusion mitigation. The
forum includes two breakout sessions: one on
community issues and one on government programs.

AWMA VI Conference
|
|
The Air and Waste Management Association will be
holding its fourth specialty conference on vapor
intrusion on January 27-30, 2009 in San Diego, CA.
Four professional development VI courses are offered
on Jan. 27. Information on the conference can be

Vapor Intrusion Mitigation Approaches Document
|
|
EPA has published a document "Indoor Air Vapor
Intrusion Mitigation Approaches" which presents
the "state of the science" regarding management and
treatment of vapor intrusion into buildings. The

ASTM VI Training Course Offerings
|
|
ASTM is offering the course "Screening Properties
Involved in Real Estate Transactions for Potential
Vapor Intrusion Issues" in ten cities around the
country starting in February 2009. The training

Society for Risk Analysis
|
|
The Society for Risk Analysis is holding its annual
meeting Dec. 7-10, 2008 in Boston, MA. The vapor
intrusion symposium section of this meeting will be
held on Wednesday, December 10. Information on

The Northeast Waste Management Officials'
Association and Brown University sponsored a
workshop titled: "Vapor Intrusion in Commercial and
Industrial Buildings: Assessment and Mitigation" on
September 23, 2008 in Westford, MA and September
24, 2008 in Providence, RI. Dave Folkes of
EnviroGroup Limited spoke on mitigation of
commercial buildings using sub-slab
depressurization techniques. Other speakers
addressed use of HVAC solutions and additional

American Industrial Hygiene Association Annual Conference
|
|
The AIHA will hold its annual conference in Toronto,
Canada May 30-June 1. A vapor intrusion roundtable
will be included. Experts in the field from the U.S. and
Canada will provide an overview of recent
developments in vapor intrusion, and emerging trends
in regulatory guidance, toxicology, evaluation
techniques, and control strategies. Information on this

West Coast Conference on Soils, Sediments, and Water
|
|
The Association of Environmental Health and
Sciences will be holding its West Coast Conference
on Soils, Sediments, and Water in San Diego, CA
March 9-12. 2009. A vapor intrusion session will be
held on March 11, with a workshop on addressing
vapor intrusion at petroleum release sites on March

VI Mitigation Engineer Positions
|
|
EnviroGroup has potential openings in Denver, CO
and Saratoga Springs NY for mid to senior level
engineers with experience designing and installing
sub-slab depressurization systems. The ideal
candidates will be registered professional engineers
with a broad background in soil and groundwater
remediation and specific experience with vapor
intrusion mitigation, and will be familiar with current
EPA and state vapor intrusion guidance. Experience
with methane and radon is a plus. Candidates
should also have excellent written and verbal
communication skills, work well with others, and
produce high quality work product. EnviroGroup has
